Why won\’t my wiimote work?

It just won’t turn on. not even the lights. I put in new batteries but still it won’t flash lights. What’s going on? I also put clicked the red button on the back of the wiimote and the red button on the Wii and still won’t even flash a single light. Can anyone help? Thanks.
